CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2005--
Department to centralize time and attendance reporting for entire workforce across multiple organizational entities with Kronos solution
Kronos(R) Incorporated (Nasdaq: KRON) has been selected by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide time and labor solutions for use by the department's entire workforce of 180,000 employees across multiple DHS directorates and organizational entities. DHS selected Kronos based on its proven ability to help federal government agencies improve business processes by more efficiently and cost-effectively managing their workforces.
While the department's selection of Kronos as its time and labor vendor of choice is in the spirit of meeting the President's Management Agenda, it is also a key component of its MAX(HR) human resources initiative. MAX(HR) is designed to implement the human capital provisions of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, which calls for the establishment of a new human resources system that is flexible and contemporary. The MAX(HR) program is part of a broader "One DHS" model where a collection of disparate and redundant systems across DHS are consolidated into enterprise-wide solutions.
DHS had been relying on a variety of unrelated systems and manual processes for collecting employee time data, applying pay rules, and processing payroll for its diverse workforce. By implementing Kronos' webTA solution, DHS will streamline payroll processes, decrease administrative burden for managers, and increase accuracy of time and labor information. webTA is a web-based software application uniquely designed to meet the time and labor needs of the federal government. webTA features full integration with large government payroll operations including the National Finance Center, the official payroll provider for DHS.
"Being selected by DHS validates Kronos' growing presence in the federal government. It also demonstrates that our recent acquisition of 3i Systems is producing the results we expected. When we acquired 3i Systems, we merged the stability, size, and resources of the most trusted name in workforce management with a very strong federal-specific product offering. This winning combination is proving to be attractive to some of the most high-profile federal government entities," said Mark S. Ain, chief executive officer of Kronos. "We welcome the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a new Kronos customer."
The DHS selection of Kronos webTA was part of a contract awarded to Sword & Shield Enterprise Security, Inc., a veteran-owned small business, in partnership with immixTechnology, a reseller of Kronos products in the federal government marketplace.
