Twitter Reveals New Measures Against Bullying

(RTTNews) - Twitter Inc. (TWTR) has announced that it will roll out several new features in order to counter abuse on the platform, however, the social networking giant did not reveal any details about the updates.

"Making Twitter a safer place is our primary focus and we are now moving with more urgency than ever," tweeted Ed Ho, VP of Engineering, Twitter. "As we roll out these changes, and other features that are new, we'll keep you updated. We want your feedback and we are listening."

Ho further said on his twitter account that the updates will start rolling this week and it will "tackle long overdue fixes to mute/block and stopping repeat offenders from creating new accounts."

"We'll listen, learn and keep shipping until we've made a significant impact that people can feel. We'll be rolling out a number of product changes in the days ahead. Some changes will be visible and some will be less so."

Twitter spokesperson told VentureBeat: "We're approaching safety with a sense of urgency. As such, we will be rolling out a number of product changes in the coming days and weeks - some will be immediately visible, while others will be more targeted to specific scenarios. We will update you along the way and continue to test, learn and iterate on these changes to evaluate their effectiveness. You can expect to see meaningful progress in this area."

Twitter Chief Executive Jack Dorsey has made it priority to counter online abuse on the company's platform. Twitter has been working on this for more than a year as harassment on Twitter has led many people, including celebrities, to delete their account and leave the social platform forever.
