The Boston Globe Foundation Awards $100,000 in Local Grants as Part of Neighbor to Neighbor Fund

The Boston Globe Foundation hosted a reception today to honor the Dorchester-based recipients of the Globe Foundation’s Neighbor To Neighbor fund. The Foundation awarded a total of $100,000 to 13 organizations who do a variety of work to make Dorchester a better place to live. Neighbor To Neighbor began in 2003 as a dedicated fund, administered by a diverse committee of Boston Globe employees, to respond to the needs of The Boston Globe’s immediate neighborhood of Dorchester. Nonprofits that are doing exceptional work addressing community needs in Dorchester are selected yearly for the grants. Since 2003, the Boston Globe Foundation has awarded $600,000 in grants to Dorchester-based organizations. This year’s Neighbor To Neighbor grant recipients are: 826 Boston ABCD Dorchester Neighborhood Service Center Bird Street Community Center Company One Federated Dorchester Neighborhood Houses, Inc. Franklin Park Coalition Generation Excel Youth Development Lena Park Community Development Corporation Massachusetts Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) SCI Dorchester Summer Search Boston W.A.I.T.T. House Work, Inc.
