Tenet Awards Scholarships to Children of Employees of its Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network
Tenet Healthcare Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Tenet
Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC), and Tenet’s
Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network announced today that they have awarded
$10,500 in one-year college scholarships to six children of hospital and
regional employees in the Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network. The
Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship Program is designed to assist
children of Tenet employees pursue higher education.
By Tenet facility, the 2007 scholarship recipients, their parents and
school are:
Florida Medical Center, Ft. Lauderdale
Ran Fan, daughter of Xuejun Fan, Drexel University
Naa Sika Williams, daughter of Patricia Williams, University of
Florida
North Shore Medical Center, Miami
Leo Ferretti, son of Diane Berman, New College of Florida
Palmetto General Hospital, Hialeah
Rafael Cruzado, son of Ingrid Cruzado, University of Florida
Ricardo Rueda, son of Elizabeth Rueda, University of Florida
Daniel Urgelles, son of Mercedes Urgelles, University of Pennsylvania
"Tenet Healthcare Foundation is delighted to
assist the children of our employees achieve their goals of higher
education,” said Maria Martineau Plankinton,
director of the Tenet Healthcare Foundation. "We
see these scholarships as an investment in the future and as an
acknowledgement of all that these students have already accomplished.
Congratulations to all of the recipients for this outstanding
achievement.”
This year, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation awarded $264,000 through the
Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship program to 125 deserving
children of Tenet employees across the country.
These scholarships are awarded each year for full-time undergraduate
study at any accredited two- or four-year college, university or
vocational-technical school. Winners are chosen based on academic
record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community
activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations stated on the
application, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside
appraisal.
The program is administered for Tenet by Scholarship Management
Services, a department of Scholarship America in compliance with state
and federal guidelines regulating scholarship awards by corporate
foundations.
Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network, part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s
(NYSE: THC) Florida operations comprises seven acute care hospitals with
approximately 2,516 beds and numerous related health care services.
