Sigma-Aldrich To Buy Cell Marque - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Life science and technology company Sigma-Aldrich Corp. (SIAL) on Friday said in a bid to strengthen its antibody portfolio and to better serve immunohistochemistry or IHC customers, it will buy California-based Cell Marque Corp. The terms of the deal, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2014 were not disclosed

Cell Marque develops and manufactures antibody reagents and kits, which complement Sigma-Aldrich's IHC product family. Sigma expects this transaction to mildly add to its profit in 2015.

"We expect that Cell Marque's strong in vitro diagnostic (IVD) antibody product lines and solid relationships with pathologists and companies that provide automated staining instrumentation will broaden the diagnostic health reach of Sigma-Aldrich," said Frank Wicks, president of Sigma-Aldrich's applied business unit, in a statement.
