Sharps Compliance Q2 Profit Surges - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Sharps Compliance Corp. (SMED), a full-service national provider of comprehensive waste management solutions, Wednesday said second-quarter net income surged to $749 thousand from $120 thousand reported in the previous year. Earnings per share were $0.05, compared to $0.01 last year.
On average, three analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.03 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenue rose to $8.7 million from $7.6 million in the same prior year quarter. Two analysts expected revenues of $8.09 million.
Customer billings climbed 20 percent to $8.7 million.
David Tusa, President and CEO, said, "During the second quarter we delivered strong growth in overall customer billings to $8.7 million, led by solid results in our Retail and Professional markets. Our Retail segment benefitted from strong flu shot activity in the quarter consistent with the increase in the number of flu shots administered in the retail setting."
