Mattel Q1 Results Top Estimates

(RTTNews) - Toy maker Mattel, Inc. (MAT) reported a net loss for the first quarter of $58.2 million or $0.17 per share, compared to a net loss of $11.2 million or $0.03 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted loss per share for the first quarter was $0.08, compared to adjusted earnings per share of $0.03 in the prior year quarter.

Net sales for the first quarter fell 2% to $922.7 million from $946.2 million in the same quarter last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.09 per share on revenue of $896.54 million for the first quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
