Mark Lazarus Joins Comcast Corporation
Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK), one of the nation's leading providers of entertainment, information and communication products and services, today announced that Mark Lazarus has joined the Company as a senior sports adviser.
Comcast Chief Operating Officer Steve Burke said: "Mark is one of the most well respected executives in sports and we’re very pleased he will be joining Comcast. He brings an extensive sports background and strong industry experience to our team and will work closely with Jon Litner, Jamie Davis, and Earl Marshall.”
Mr. Lazarus joins Comcast from Atlanta-based Career Sports & Entertainment where he was President of Media and Marketing. Prior to that, he was President of Turner Entertainment Group where he oversaw all aspects of Turner Entertainment Networks, including Turner Sports, TBS, Turner Network Television (TNT), Turner Classic Movies (TCM), and truTV, among other networks. Additionally, Mr. Lazarus set the strategy and operations for Turner’s suite of digital businesses. As head of Turner Sports beginning in 1999, he led the network’s acquisition of the rights to the NBA, NASCAR, MLB playoffs, Wimbledon and the British Open, as well as the Internet rights to NASCAR.com, PGATOUR.com, and PGA.com. Prior to joining Turner Broadcasting in 1990, Mr. Lazarus held positions with Backer Spielvogel Bates, Inc. and NBC Cable.
Mr. Lazarus serves on the Board of Governors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Chairman of its Southeast region. He also serves on the board of directors for Atlanta's High Museum of Art, the East Lake Foundation, the PATH Foundation, Compass Diversified Holdings, and Cincinnati Bell, Inc. Mr. Lazarus holds a B.S. degree in Political Science from Vanderbilt University.
