Mark H. Jackson Named General Counsel of Dow Jones

Mark H. Jackson, associate general counsel of HarperCollins Publishers, will become executive vice president, general counsel, of Dow Jones & Company, Dow Jones Chief Executive Officer Les Hinton announced today. Jackson, 48, will replace Joseph A. Stern, who recently announced he is leaving Dow Jones. In announcing the appointment, Mr. Hinton said: "I’m delighted that Mark will join Dow Jones as general counsel. He has made outstanding contributions to HarperCollins and I know that his considerable experience with all facets of the media industry, combined with his superlative legal acumen, will be valuable assets to Dow Jones.” Mr. Jackson said: "As someone who has spent his legal career working with media companies, I am excited to be joining one of the most distinguished. Dow Jones has a strong legal team and I look forward to working with them during the Company’s next phase of growth.” Mr. Jackson joined HarperCollins in January 2003. Prior to joining News Corporation, he was a partner at Squadron, Ellenoff, Plesent & Sheinfeld specializing in the media industry. Jackson is a cum laude graduate of Cornell University and Cornell Law School.
