EMC Names Igor Agamirzian General Manager, EMC Software Development, Russia

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- EMC Corporation , the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that Igor Agamirzian has joined EMC in the newly created role of General Manager, EMC Software Development in Russia. Igor, an 11-year veteran of Microsoft and native of Russia, will lead EMC's research & software development activities in Russia (see today's related release), reporting to Sanjay Mirchandani, EMC's Senior Vice President of Emerging Markets & International Development.

Igor is uniquely qualified to help us do that."

Based in St. Petersburg, Agamirzian will be responsible for EMC's software development operations in Russia. He will also partner with Luc Brunet, General Manager of EMC's Russian and CIS operations, to ensure the company's local software development efforts also support the unique information infrastructure needs of Russia's marketplace.

Agamirzian has over twenty-five years of experience working in computer sciences and the information technology business. He joined Microsoft in 1995 and held a variety of senior management positions at the software leader. He most recently served as the National Technology Officer in the Cabinet of the Chairman of Microsoft Russia & CIS. Agamirzian holds a Masters degree in Mathematics and a PhD in Computer Science from St. Petersburg (Leningrad) State University.

EMC entered the Russian market in 2000. Today EMC employs approximately 100 software development and customer-servicing professionals across operations in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The company expects to grow its Russian employee-base to more than 250 by year-end.
