Electro Scientific Q4 Loss Narrows; Outlook Weak

(RTTNews) - Electro Scientific Industries Inc (ESIO) Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net loss of $27.6 million or $0.92 per share compared with a loss of $65.8 million or $2.23 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted loss for the quarter was $5 million or $0.16 per share compared with a loss of $1 million or $0.03 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were $37 million compared with $39.6 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated a loss of $0.17 per share on revenues of $37 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking ahead to the first quarter, the company expects adjusted loss of $0.30 to $0.25 per share and revenues of $30 million to $35 million. Analysts expect a loss of $0.11 per share on revenues of $44.3 million.
