EA Ships Award-Winning and Highly Acclaimed SKATE Videogame
Get ready for all the fun, creativity and culture of skateboarding
without the hours of practice, broken bones, and hospital visits.
Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) announced today that SKATE for
the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment
system has shipped to retail stores in North America. The
PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system
version will launch shortly after on September 24. SKATE from EA
Mobile is also available for purchase and download from most major
mobile operators in North America and Europe.
"EA brought me in early in the development of
the game to make sure they were authentically representing the skate
culture and the actual feeling of skating. I’ve
been closely watching the game progress over the last few years and it’s
come a long way,” said skate legend Danny
Way. "I think this game is going to make a
lot of heads turn. The team has done a tremendous job in capturing a
realistic skate feel and the reward of landing tricks. It’s
a celebration of skating and not just focused on one man but everyone
and everything that makes skating fun.”
EA’s release of the SKATE demo on Xbox
LIVE Marketplace on August 15 garnered outstanding attention with over
600,000 downloads to date. The demo includes the innovative skate.reel
feature where gamers can capture video footage of their skate session at
any time during the game and share the footage online at www.skate.ea.com
for other players to view, rate and comment on. Gamers will also be able
to download a demo from the PLAYSTATION®
Store soon. With innovative Flickit controls that take advantage
of the dual analog sticks, SKATE delivers an authentic boarding
mecca like no other videogame.
SKATE will also ship in Europe on September 21 for Xbox 360 and
October 5 for PLAYSTATION 3. SKATE is developed by EA Black Box
in Vancouver, British Columbia and is rated "T”
for Teen by the ESRB and 12+ by PEGI.
