DeVry Education Results Miss Estimates; Stock Tanks 10%

(RTTNews) - DeVry Education Group Inc (DV) on Thursday reported second-quarter net earnings of $42.4 million or $0.65 per share compared with $48.2 million or $0.74 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.75 per share compared with $0.80 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were $485 million compared with $491.3 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.77 per share on revenues of $486 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company's student enrollments for the quarter fell slighly to 120,713.
