News Facts
-- Cisco(R) has led the way in this area of security, first through ad hoc and field-directed customer sessions, and through industry session (e.g. NANOG) and Cisco Networkers sessions. Authors Gregg Schudel and David J. Smith have contributed to many of these efforts and are recognized experts in the field.
-- Readers will review IP router packet processing concepts, architectures and security implications, and examine case studies that illustrate specific techniques for securing Enterprise and Service Provider IP networks.
-- The introductory section provides a brief overview of the essential components of the IP protocol and IP protocol networks.
-- Second section expands on each of the component concepts, and the authors develop the working details that serious networking professional can use to implement IP traffic plane separation and protection strategies.
-- Final section of the book provides case studies for two different network environments: the Enterprise Network, and the Service Provider network.
