BorgWarner Turbo Powers New Hyundai Grand Starex
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BorgWarner's recently introduced variable turbine geometry (VTG(TM)) turbocharger improves the fuel economy, emissions and performance of the Hyundai Grand Starex, newly launched for the business van market.
"BorgWarner is committed to providing OEM partners like Hyundai with leading- edge technology designed to drive performance and fuel economy," said Roger Wood, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems. "As our sixth new VTG product launch in Asia in three years, this new business further enhances BorgWarner's expanding market position and technology leadership in the region."
Partnered with a 2.5-liter common rail diesel engine, the VTG turbocharger delivers 20% more power and 24% more torque than a common waste gate system. In addition, VTG technology results in better combustion efficiency, improving fuel economy by 6% compared with the smaller, earlier model Starex, while meeting the more stringent Euro IV emissions regulations. BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems developed the turbocharger in cooperation with SeohanWarner Turbo Systems, Ltd. (SWTS), a BorgWarner joint venture in Korea.
