Cognex Corp. (CGNX) gained 16 percent to $43.86 as its second quarter results topped Wall Street view. The company also forecast third quarter revenue above the consensus estimate.
HealthSouth Corp. (HLS) rose 7 percent to $40.42. The company's second quarter earnings and net operating revenues were above analysts' expectations. In addition, the company raised its full-year 2014 adjusted EBITDA and income from continuing operations guidance.
Decliners:
Herbalife Ltd. (HLF) declined 11 percent to $59.90. The company's second quarter earnings declined from the prior year period and its adjusted earnings per share missed Street view. Net sales rose 7 percent, but missed the consensus estimate. The company guided third quarter adjusted earnings per share below analysts' estimate. The company also revised its full year 2014 forecast.
KaloBios Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (KBIO) plunged 16 percent to $1.61 based on the news that the KB001-A collaboration and licensing agreement with Sanofi Pasteur entered into in 2010 has been terminated.
Targacept, Inc. (TRGT) plummeted 32 percent to $2.64. The company announced that it is discontinuing further development of TC-5214 as a treatment for overactive bladder. In the trial, the high dose of TC-5214 showed mixed results on the co-primary endpoints by providing a statistically significant reduction in micturition frequency and an improvement that did not reach statistical significance on episodes of urinary incontinence per 24 hours, after 12 weeks of treatment.
